Dawen was a special guest performer at Princeton’s Asian Night Market on April 15, 2011. This musical genius was playing and singing snippets of classic to contemporary hits requested by the audience on the fly – even if he heard it only once on the radio!
Granted, he didn’t always know all of the lyrics, but Dawen played the chords, melody and improvised on the words from cover to cover. He certainly has a high aptitude of learning music by ear.
In this requested set, Dawen begins with Alphaville’s classic Forever Young and smoothly transitions into Rebecca Black’s viral fail Friday. This absurd request from the audience was the infancy of Dawen’s eventual recreation of the song in Chinese. [ FREE DL ]
Dawen’s other impromptu sets include:
– Sexy Back – Shots – Bad Romance
– I’m Yours – Just The Way You Are – Somebody To Love
– Rolling In The Deep – What’s My Name – Imagine – Teenage Dream
– Rocketeer
– Shoes – This Dawen original helped him win the Grand Prize at Kollaboration Acoustic 4 last year. Quite a fun song!
By night’s end, Dawen had drawn a large crowd and captivated the hearts of many at Princeton. Dawen, you are a true talent – look forward to hearing Eye of the Tiger soon!
